A BIT OF HISTORY

In 2009 Brandgroup International Pty (ltd) was established with the sole purpose of identifying, launching and managing high end, luxury, niche international brands through both wholesale and retail distribution.
The first brand acquired, high end Scandinavian men’s and women’s brand Tiger of Sweden, was launched in 2009 in South Africa and a 186m2 concept store was opened in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg. In 2011 a second store measuring 278m2 opened in the new Protea Court of Sandton City in Johannesburg. A third store of 160m2 in 2013 in the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town. In 2015 a fourth measuring 190m2 in Hyde Park Corner, Johannesburg and in 2016 a 240m2 store will be opening in the Mall of Africa, Waterfall, centered between Pretoria and Johannesburg.
Between 2011 and 2014, the company launched three additional Scandinavian brands into the South African market.
In 2011 Swedish luxury stationery and gifting brand Ordning&Reda was launched via a concept store in the Protea Court of Sandton City in Johannesburg and Brandgroup International launched Oslo based womenwear designer, Nina Jarebrink, via wholesale distribution.
In 2014 Brandgroup International launched Danish womenswear brand Day Birger et Mikkelsen via a full concept flagship store in Hyde Park Corner, Johannesburg. 2016 sees further expansion for the brand across South Africa with the opening of full concept stores in The Mall of Africa, Waterfall and the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.
The newest edition to the Brandgroup International stable is the fast track unisex French brand The Kooples. Launching in April 2016 in the Mall of Africa, Waterfall. A full concept store measuring 237m2 will offer both the mens and womens mainline collections as well as Kooples Sport collections.
Brandgroup International are established as a premium company who understands the requirements and challenges of launching luxury high end apparel into the South African market. Our ability to create revenue from day one and ensure steady growth and profitability has allowed us to expand quickly.
We offer all of our brands not only our expertise of the South African clothing retail market but also an astute understanding of the requirements of the luxury end consumer. We have a staff compliment of people who have established themselves as being the “best in the business” from sales, though to buying, marketing, planning, logistics, operations, distribution and eCommerce. Each brand under our umbrella has been selected by passion and in turn the management and staff are committed to nurturing and growing the brands into a steady business operation.
